Payroll & HR Operations Specialist

Position Overview
This role supports union payroll processing and HR operations, ensuring accurate payroll administration, smooth onboarding, and compliance with wage regulations. The position works cross-functionally with HR, field leadership, and accounting teams to maintain operational efficiency and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review weekly time records for accuracy and completeness

  • Process payroll entries and adjustments using payroll systems

  • Resolve payroll inquiries, discrepancies, and escalated pay issues

  • Support weekly payroll processing for a large workforce

  • Manage final pay processing in compliance with state laws

  • Administer wage levies, child support, and other payroll deductions

  • Prepare payroll and compliance reports, including certified payroll

  • Assist with audits, workers' compensation, and related reporting

  • Support onboarding of union employees, including I-9 processing

  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and assist with HR technology processes

  • Support recruiting efforts and field hiring as needed (travel up to 30%)

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel

  • Experience with payroll systems; Paycom preferred

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • 1–3 years of payroll or related experience preferred

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or a related field is a plus
