CNC Machinist

A family-owned Chicago job shop with a strong reputation for machining large, custom workpieces since the mid-1970s is hiring experienced CNC Machinists for immediate openings.

Our work supports a wide range of industries, including steel mills, oil and gas, mining, food processing, automation, and power generation. Every project is different, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys challenging, custom machining work rather than repetitive, high-volume production.

What You Will Do

• Set up and operate large part jobs on CNC vertical mills and CNC horizontal and vertical lathes
• Read and interpret blueprints and independently plan setups, workholding, and tooling
• Perform basic programming at the machine control for 2D and 3 axis milling and 2 axis lathe operations
• Work with large, heavy, custom parts and fabrications
  Maintain a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and safe work practices

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC mills and lathes with full setup responsibility
• Experience working with large, heavy, custom parts and fabrications in a job shop environment
• Strong blueprint and print reading skills
• Ability to independently plan setups, workholding, and tooling
• Experience with machine programming
• Experience with Mastercam programming software is preferred

Pay and Schedule

• Pay: $30 to $40 per hour, based on experience
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with 45+ hours per week
• Optional Saturdays available
• Overtime paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate
