About the job Quality Control Microbiologist
Role Overview
The Quality Control Microbiologist supports laboratory operations by performing microbiological testing to detect, identify, and monitor microorganisms in products, raw materials, and the manufacturing environment. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance with quality and regulatory standards through accurate testing, proper documentation, and adherence to established procedures.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare samples, reagents, and growth media for microbiological analysis
- Perform testing using aseptic techniques, plating methods, Gram staining, and environmental monitoring
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
- Accurately document, analyze, and report laboratory results following SOPs
- Participate in team-based laboratory activities and collaborate with cross-functional departments
Skills & Competencies

Solid understanding of microbiological laboratory techniques
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), SOPs, and quality control systems
- Ability to follow detailed written procedures and maintain precise documentation

Strong attention to detail and effective time management

Good communication and teamwork skills
Basic knowledge of quality systems, including deviations, CAPAs, and change control processes
Education & Experience

3–5 years of laboratory or microbiology testing experience
Experience with AET testing preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field (or equivalent lab experience)
- Proficiency with basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift to 50 lbs as needed
Capable of sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods during the workday
