Job Summary
This position involves learning and understanding the purpose, functions, and expectations of the Material Planning Department. The role supports various departmental activities while undergoing comprehensive training aimed at future support of a designated facility or set of departments. A key responsibility includes assisting with the Work Order Release process and participating in daily material planning operations.
Responsibilities:
The following tasks represent the core duties of the position. This list is not exhaustive, and additional related duties may be assigned as necessary:
- Learn and internalize the departments purpose, goals, and values
- Gain proficiency in relevant software platforms including Visual Manufacturing (VMFG), LillyWorks, Smart Views, and the Visual Connector
- Engage in the Complete and Accurate process and attend daily planning meetings
- Review shop floor schedules to determine work order releases
- Verify all material specifications and requirements
- If approved, issue raw materials and generate complete work order packets
- If not approved, notify appropriate departments
- Validate shop floor schedule data, including cycle and setup times
- Adjust times in Smart Views as needed
- Notify the methods team for updates to the Engineering Master
- Create and close work orders for fixtures and internal parts
- Support general material planning functions such as:
- Cycle time and setup time adjustments
- Leave open/close short modifications
- Minimum and maximum value adjustments
- Reviewing and updating operations and overrun/overclaim entries
- Daily and periodic LillyWorks tasks
- Running the MRP Scheduler
- General data entry and transaction support
- Kit production shelves and ensure product movement in alignment with schedule changes
- Train across all aspects of material planning by shadowing team members
- Gain exposure to multiple departments or facilities for comprehensive support coverage during high-volume periods or absences
- Work toward future ownership of designated department(s) or facility operations
- Review existing Work Instructions; modify and submit updates for approval
- Create new Work Instructions where needed; submit for approval and link to Training Matrix
- Support the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process by locating and removing impacted work orders from the production floor and assisting with related material planning tasks
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least one year of experience in material planning or as a process technician
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Visual ERP systems, including work order and process creation
- Understanding of project management principles and methods
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820 compliance (on-the-job training available)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), SolidWorks, and ERP systems
