Education

· Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.

· Advanced coursework in metallurgy is a plus.

Experience

· Minimum of 15 years of specialized experience in OCTG design, manufacturing, inspection, and field application.

· Proven expertise in casing/tubing string design, premium connection performance, and mill/manufacturer technical interface.

· Demonstrated knowledge of API and ISO standards, tubular engineering practices, and quality assurance programs.

Key Responsibilities

· Premium Connection Qualification

Ø Evaluate and qualify premium threaded connections in line with ISO 13679, API RP 5C5, and internal performance criteria.

Ø Interpret and validate connection test data to ensure suitability for specific environments and loading conditions.

Ø Provide recommendations for connection selection aligned with wellbore conditions, pressures, and operational parameters.

· Casing & Tubing Design

Ø Perform engineering design of casing and tubing strings, including strength calculations and performance envelopes.

Ø Ensure designs meet well integrity, performance, and operational objectives under all anticipated loading conditions and operating environments.

Ø Collaborate with drilling and completions teams to optimize OCTG selections for well construction efficiency and safety.

· Tubular Inspection & Quality Plans

Ø Define inspection requirements and develop quality plans covering NDT methods, dimensional inspection, hardness testing, hydrotesting, and drift checks.

Ø Verify conformance to API, ISO, and project-specific specifications.

Ø Provide oversight during inspections and disposition of non-conforming materials.

· Mill Assessment & Qualification

Ø Conduct assessments and technical audits of OCTG manufacturing mills.

Ø Evaluate capabilities related to metallurgical processes, threading, heat treatment, dimensional control, and quality management systems.

Ø Lead mill qualification programs, including review of process documentation, sample testing, and compliance verification.

· Support for Well Design & Operations

Ø Provide subject matter expertise to well engineering teams on OCTG selection, string configuration, connection compatibility, and design validation.

Ø Participate in design reviews and risk assessments for planned wells.

Ø Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any tubular performance issues during operations.

· Standards, Compliance & Manufacturing Knowledge

Ø Maintain current knowledge of applicable industry standards including API 5CT, 5B, 5C1, 5C5, 5C6, ISO 11960, ISO 13679, and relevant client specifications.

Ø Apply sound understanding of OCTG manufacturing processes, including threading, heat treatment, inspection, and finishing.

Ø Capable of assessing chemical composition against grade requirements, and understanding metallurgical principles, mechanical properties, and microstructure analysis relevant to OCTG applications.

Ø Able to interpret and critically review Material Test Certificate (MTC), mill reports, heat treatment records, ...etc. for compliance with Company requirements and applicable industry standards.

Ø Evaluate and provide disposition on product deviation requests, ensuring compliance with technical and safety requirements.

Ø Review and verify product marking, traceability, and preservation methods in line with company and industry guidelines.

· Technical Competencies

Ø Strong command of OCTG design principles, stress analysis, and string load-case evaluation.

Ø Familiar with casing/tubing design tools and inspection protocols.

Ø Deep understanding of steel grades, heat treatment processes, and tubular QA/QC practices.

Ø Experience with product deviation reviews, manufacturing documentation, and preservation and marking compliance.

· Language & Communication

Ø Fluent in spoken and written English, with the ability to prepare detailed technical reports, lead discussions, and communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

Soft Skills

· Highly detail-oriented, disciplined, and technically authoritative.

· Able to interface with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, QA/QC, procurement, and operations.

· Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Capable of mentoring junior staff and contributing to knowledge transfer initiatives.

Preferred Background

· Experience working with E&P operators, OCTG manufacturers, or tubular service companies.

· Exposure to offshore, sour service, or high-pressure / high temperature (HPHT) well environments.
