INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN

Minimum Qualifications

  • Fluent knowledge of English language (Speak, Read and Write).
  • Graduate from High School and Graduate of 2-year technical school.
  • Trade training Certificates from recognized institutions.

Minimum Work Experience

  • 8 years work experience as an Instrument Technician in a petrochemical, Oil, and Gas plant with experience in maintenance, commissioning, loop testing and start-up activities.

Job Requirements (but not limited to)

  • Understand and follow plant safety standards and procedures. Be familiar with typical petrochemical plant safety hazards.
  • Understand and follow standard maintenance procedures.
  • Understand and follow manufacturer's troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
  • Correctly use and care for test and calibration equipment.
  • Follow good housekeeping practices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electronic and "smart" instruments.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC's, and TMR systems (Triconex).
  • Calibrate pneumatic, electronic and digital instruments.
  • Overhaul control valves and other instruments.
  • Read and understand P&ID, Loop, Logic and Electrical drawings.
  • Follow ISO procedural requirements for calibration and record keeping.
  • Tune feedback control loops.
  • Follow plant preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Function test safety critical instrument systems following provided written procedures.
  • Understand maintenance and calibration requirements for instrument systems such as compressor controls, vibration monitoring, boiler controls, interlock systems, emergency shutdown systems, fire and gas detection systems.
  • In addition to his normal jobs, he should assist and participate in other maintenance activities.
  • Safe and proper care of tools.
  • Work as a team with operations, engineering, and maintenance.
  • Take initiative, look for opportunities to improve instrument reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Actively participate in CLIENTs safety and training programs.
  • Train Subordinates & coworkers. Report on work progress & maintenance activities.

Analyzer Experience

  • Performed preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of online process analyzers in petrochemical and oil & gas plants while strictly adhering to plant safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
  • Calibrated, configured, and troubleshot process analyzers including Gas Chromatographs (GC), Oxygen (O), Moisture, HS, pH, Conductivity, Silica, Turbidity, TOC, and other online analytical instruments.
  • Carried out maintenance and calibration of analyzer sample conditioning systems, sample probes, fast loops, filters, pressure regulators, pumps, and associated field instrumentation.
  • Diagnosed and repaired pneumatic, electronic, digital, and smart analyzer transmitters using HART communicators and calibration equipment.
  • Performed loop checks, function tests, commissioning, and SAT/FAT support for analyzer systems and associated instrumentation.
  • Read and interpreted P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, logic drawings, analyzer schematics, and vendor documentation for troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
  • Worked with PLC, DCS, and Triconex/TMR safety systems for analyzer signal verification, interlocks, alarms, and emergency shutdown functions.
  • Executed preventive maintenance activities in accordance with ISO procedures, OEM recommendations, and plant maintenance standards while maintaining accurate calibration and maintenance records.
  • Performed functional testing of analyzer-related safety critical systems and verified analyzer alarms, shutdowns, and process interlocks.
  • Assisted in maintenance of compressor controls, fire and gas systems, boiler controls, vibration monitoring systems, and emergency shutdown systems as required.
  • Conducted control valve and associated instrument inspections, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable process control.
  • Used and maintained calibration and diagnostic equipment including multifunction calibrators, pressure calibrators, HART communicators, and analyzer-specific test equipment.
  • Maintained high standards of housekeeping, tool management, and compliance with plant safety and quality procedures.
  • Participated in plant safety meetings, toolbox talks, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
