MEP Connections is recruiting on behalf of a respected MEP consultancy with a strong presence across Ireland and the UK. The company is currently expanding its mechanical team and is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in delivering sustainable, innovative building services design across a diverse project portfolio.

This is a standout opportunity to step into a senior leadership role with a clear path to Associate level, offering a healthy mix of design responsibility, client engagement, and mentoring of junior engineers.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll join a collaborative team of engineers and technicians working across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, residential, education, and mixed-use developments.

You'll take ownership of projects from early-stage design through to completion, contributing both technical excellence and leadership. The role also includes line management and development of junior engineers, with support from senior leadership to progress your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services including HVAC, water, and public health systems

  • Manage and mentor junior engineers, reviewing design work and providing support for their development

  • Liaise directly with clients, presenting technical solutions and ensuring expectations are met

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants for integrated MEP delivery

  • Support strategic growth of the mechanical discipline, with a route to Associate-level responsibility

About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering

  • Minimum 8 years experience in mechanical design, ideally within a consultancy

  • Strong understanding of building services systems including HVAC, hot/cold water, and drainage

  • Able to confidently lead projects and represent the business in meetings

  • Passionate about mentoring and developing junior engineers

  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (CEng or equivalent) is preferred

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
