Summary:
The Assistant Manager Payroll is responsible for supporting the end-to-end payroll process to ensure accurate and timely employee compensation in compliance with company policies and statutory regulations. This role serves as a strategic support role within a fast-paced, time-sensitive, and results-oriented Department. This role involves assisting with various payroll tasks, including payroll processing and supporting employees and other departments. This role involves coordinating with internal departments, supervising payroll staff (if applicable), reviewing payroll data, and assisting with audits, reporting, and system improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the full payroll cycle for all employees, including permanent, contract, and temporary staff.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, statutory deductions, remittances, bonuses, incentives, and other compensation components.
- Oversee all processes in payroll payments, both in the head office and the site.
- Ensure compliance with local tax, labor, and social security regulations
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure data accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and client payroll data
- Review all payroll reports and their analytics for internal and external stakeholders, including the approval process
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations
- Monitor payroll controls and propose improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Provide guidance and support to junior payroll team members
- Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and company policies
- Conduct payroll reconciliations, audits, and compliance checks
- Continuously seek process improvements and stay updated on payroll best practices
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Business Administration, or any related field from a reputable university. Qualifying experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis instead of education.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant managerial role.
- Experience with in-house payroll processing and reporting in organizations, process optimization, and automation.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of labor laws, tax regulations, and compensation and benefits administration.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex payroll issues.
- Proficiency in payroll software and related computer programs, such as Microsoft Office (especially Excel with advanced level preferred), HRIS (Human Resource Information System), and payroll software (SAP, Oracle, ADP, etc.).
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
