Job Summary

The Business Development Senior Manager will lead strategic commercial growth initiatives across the companys mining and natural resources portfolio. This role integrates business development, corporate strategy, and operational performance oversight, ensuring that new opportunities and ongoing projects are commercially viable, strategically aligned, and effectively executed. The position requires strong analytical capability, financial expertise, high-level stakeholder management, and proficiency in Mandarin to support cross-border coordination with international partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, and execute new business opportunities including acquisitions, partnerships, investments, and joint ventures.
  • Develop financial models, business cases, feasibility studies, and commercial evaluations for strategic projects.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with partners, suppliers, contractors, and financial institutions.
  • Analyze market trends, commodity dynamics, competitor movements, and regulatory developments to support strategic direction.
  • Prepare proposals, term sheets, risk assessments, and board-level presentations for senior leadership.
  • Translate strategic objectives into operational plans and ensure alignment across mining operations, supply chain, logistics, and finance.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics (production, cost per ton, contractor performance, logistics efficiency, project milestones).
  • Develop and maintain structured KPIs, dashboards, and performance scorecards for management review.
  • Identify operational gaps, risks, and inefficiencies; drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison for cross-border communication with external stakeholders, particularly those in China.
  • Promote Merdekas HSE culture and uphold the companys Vision, Mission, and Values.

Requirement

  • Bachelors or Masters degree; graduates from leading Chinese universities (Tsinghua, Peking University, Fudan, Shanghai Jiaotong, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in Business Development, Corporate Finance, Strategy, or related fields.
  • Industry background in mining, energy, manufacturing, or heavy industry is an advantage.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English (spoken and written).
  • Proven experience in cross-border transactions such as financing, acquisitions, partnerships, and supply contracts.
  • Strong commercial skills: financial modeling, deal evaluation, business case development, and negotiation.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, stakeholder management, and ability to interact with senior leadership.
  • High integrity, structured approach, and strong professional communication skills.
