Job Summary:
The Grounds Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the outdoor areas of facilities to ensure a safe, attractive, and professional environment. This role includes landscaping, lawn care, seasonal property maintenance, and general grounds upkeep. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about horticultural practices, operates maintenance equipment safely, and contributes to the overall aesthetic and functional quality of the property.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas through mowing, trimming, pruning, and edging.

• Operate and maintain landscaping and groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other power tools, safely and efficiently.

• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance, including leaf removal, snow removal, ice control, and other weather-related tasks.

• Apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and soil amendments in accordance with safety regulations and best horticultural practices.

• Maintain irrigation systems through routine inspections, repairs, and adjustments to ensure proper watering of landscaped areas.

• Monitor grounds for safety hazards, debris, or damage, and take corrective action as needed.

• Assist with the installation and maintenance of new landscaping projects, including planting, mulching, and hardscaping support.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, and equipment usage.

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies for grounds maintenance operations.

• Collaborate with facility management and other maintenance staff to coordinate landscaping projects and seasonal maintenance plans.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or horticultural work.

• Ability to operate and maintain outdoor maintenance equipment safely and efficiently.

• Knowledge of lawn care, plant care, seasonal landscape practices, and pest management techniques.

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize maintenance tasks.

• Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Understanding of safety protocols, equipment maintenance, and environmental regulations.

• Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Certifications in landscaping, pesticide application, or horticulture are a plus.
