Job Summary:
The Radar/Lidar Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of radar and lidar speed-detection equipment used by law enforcement agencies. This role ensures that all devices operate accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards, supporting enforcement operations and public safety initiatives. The technician provides technical expertise, performs diagnostics, and maintains detailed records to ensure equipment reliability and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain radar and lidar speed detection equipment for law enforcement vehicles and fixed locations.

Perform routine calibrations and tests to ensure devices meet manufacturer specifications and applicable regulatory standards.

Diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform repairs, replace defective components, and conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime.

Maintain accurate calibration records, service logs, and compliance documentation for audits and law enforcement reporting.

Support law enforcement personnel in the operation and troubleshooting of radar and lidar equipment.

Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure speed detection devices are functioning accurately and consistently.

Stay current with technological advancements, industry standards, and regulatory changes in radar and lidar enforcement equipment.

Assist in training law enforcement personnel on the proper use, care, and operation of speed detection devices.

Collaborate with manufacturers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve equipment issues and source replacement parts.

Respond promptly to urgent service requests to ensure minimal disruption to law enforcement operations.
Qualifications:

Proven experience with radar, lidar, or electronic diagnostic and measurement equipment.

Technical training or certification in electronics, communications, or a related field preferred.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform repairs accurately.

Knowledge of calibration procedures and standards for speed detection equipment.

Ability to maintain precise records and compliance documentation.
