Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Engineer with a strong background in COBOL, CICS, TSO, and JCL to join our team in support of a public sector client. This role is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days per week on-site in Riverdale, MD.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing mainframe applications, as well as troubleshooting and optimizing code to ensure efficient operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL and CICS.

• Write and manage JCL for batch job processing.

• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, ensuring minimal downtime.

• Optimize code for performance and reliability.

• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to meet project goals.

• Perform additional duties as needed within the project scope.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with COBOL, CICS, TSO, and JCL.

• Strong programming and debugging skills.

• Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.

• Ability to work on-site in Riverdale Park, MD at least 2 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CA-IDEAL and CA Datacomm.

• Background in higher education or government environments.

Contract Details

• Length: 1-year contract, renewable annually for up to 3 years.

• Hours: 40 hours per week.

• Work Arrangement: Hybrid (on-site 2 days/week, remote otherwise).
