Purpose of the Role
This role is responsible for delivering data – driven insights and operational support to the Category Management Team. This role combines commercial analysis, reporting, and stakeholder collaboration to optimize category performance, improve profitability, and support the strategic decision making
The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on, and data-driven professional who acts as a "mini-business owner" for their category. The position plays a key role in analysing sales trends, promotional performance, supplier data, and inventory metrics to drive sales growth, margin improvement, and range optimization

Key Accountabilities

The responsibilities of the Category Support / Data Analyst will include, but not be limited to:
- Analyse sales, margin, markdowns, and inventory performance across assigned categories
- Develop and maintain dashboards and weekly/ monthly performance reports
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through data interpretation
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and promotional analysis
- Conduct post- promotion and campaign effectiveness reviews
- Assist Category Managers with range reviews and assortment optimisation
- Support new product launches and SKU rationalisation
- Analyse pricing strategies and competitor positioning
- Provide insight into markdown strategy and stock management
- Monitor supplier performance and rebate tracking
Key Selection Criteria, Qualifications & Experience
- 2-5+ years experience in category analysis, retail analytics. Or commercial support
- Strong analytical and numerical capability
- Strong skills in using data analytics tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI) and ERP systems (SAP, Ariba) to interpret complex datasets and make informed decisions.
- Ability to analyze product profitability and set pricing strategies that optimize margins.
- Ability to partner with marketing and supply chain teams to align procurement initiatives with business goals.
- Strong attention to detail and commercial acumen.
- Ability to translate complex data sets into clear business insights
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Retail, P&C, or FMCG industry experience highly regarded
