Purpose of the Role
The Step Up and Communications Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing communication across United Petroleums national operations. As part of the Learning and Development team, this position is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that foster strong connections between retail, corporate, and operational teams.
By driving employee engagement, reinforcing company values, and ensuring alignment with business priorities, the Internal Communications Coordinator supports a cohesive and informed workplace culture.
Key Accountability

Internal Communication
- Develop and implement internal communication plans that support Uniteds strategic objectives and operational initiatives. Collaborate closely with HR, IT, Retail Operations, Marketing and Merchandising and Executive Leadership to ensure timely, consistent, and effective messaging.
- Create and maintain engaging, brand-aligned content for internal channels including newsletters (min 2 per week), intranet (SharePoint), Microsoft Teams Meetings and print material across retail sites.
- Coordinate and support internal events such as town halls, leadership updates, and employee recognition programs.
- Monitor communication effectiveness through analytics, feedback, and engagement metrics, and provide regular reporting to leadership.
- Maintain the distribution lists to ensure current Commission Agents and employees receive these communications.
- Complete structured, engaging and CA/in store team friendly weekly communications for both United and Pie Face sites to the wider network, engaging with all relevant stakeholders.
Training Program Management
- Manage the Step Up accounts and the Step Up inbox responding to any training enquiries or operations related questions.
- Oversees the CTA program including scheduling, attendance, tracking sign-offs and issuing certificates.
- Updating training materials in response to new product launches, electronic logs (elogs) and other resources such as tickets or support documentation.
- Prepares and delivers weekly reports on training statistics to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of training materials and resources.
- Complete Pie Face licenses and certificates.
- Support CA onboarding and training programs.
Administrative and Operational Support
- Manage the CA recruitment inbox, ensuring timely responses and monitoring progress of applications.
- Oversees uniform inventory for support office staff, including monitoring stock levels and liaising with suppliers for replenishment.
- Administer access cards for the Brisbane Office and manage car park allocations (in the absence of HR)
- Assist with the onboarding and offboarding process in the absence of a dedicated HR department, ensuring smooth transitions for new hires and departing employees.
- Provide general administrative support to the L&D team and contribute to continuous improvement of processes.
Key Selection Criteria, Qualifications & Experience
Key Requirements:
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with intranet content management systems and employee engagement platforms is highly regarded.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across diverse teams and levels of the organisation.
