Job Summary:

The Procurement Specialist (Supplier Consolidation) is responsible for identifying and delivering supplier consolidation opportunities across a product-focused business. The role manages sourcing and tender activities from opportunity identification through supplier selection, commercial negotiation, internal approvals, and implementation, with a strong focus on achieving sustainable cost savings and improving supplier efficiency.

The role will work closely with internal stakeholders and international suppliers, particularly suppliers based in China, to consolidate common product assortments, materials, substrates, and other purchasing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify supplier consolidation opportunities across product categories, including common assortments, materials, substrates, and other purchasing requirements.

• Analyze existing supplier spend, pricing, product overlap, and inbound freight costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.

• Develop and maintain quote sheets and sourcing documentation for new procurement initiatives.

• Prepare and issue tenders and requests for quotation (RFQs) to qualified suppliers.

• Manage multiple tenders concurrently, ensuring activities remain on schedule and aligned with procurement requirements.

• Project manage sourcing initiatives through an established stage-gate process, from initial opportunity assessment through supplier selection and implementation.

• Evaluate supplier quotations, commercial proposals, pricing structures, and total landed costs.

• Conduct commercial negotiations within established approval limits and negotiation guidelines.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to obtain requirements, evaluate sourcing options, and progress necessary approvals.

• Coordinate with suppliers throughout the tender and implementation process to ensure alignment on pricing, specifications, volumes, lead times, and commercial terms.

• Monitor supplier consolidation initiatives and track annualised savings achieved through improved supplier pricing and inbound freight efficiencies.

• Maintain accurate procurement records, tender documentation, supplier information, and savings reports.

• Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, supplier performance, and overall purchasing efficiency.

• Provide regular updates on tender progress, commercial outcomes, risks, approvals, and realised savings.

Qualifications

• ● 5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, procurement transformation, or related procurement functions.

• ● Strong experience in supplier consolidation, strategic sourcing, tender management, and cost optimisation.

• ● Proven experience managing multiple procurement projects or tenders concurrently.

• ● Strong commercial negotiation and supplier management skills.

• ● Experience with B2B product-based businesses and physical product sourcing.

• ● Experience managing or working with suppliers based in China.

• ● Experience working with Australian businesses, stakeholders, or procurement environments.

• ● Strong understanding of supplier pricing, cost structures, and inbound freight or landed-cost considerations.

• ● Strong project management skills, particularly in managing sourcing initiatives through defined approval or stage-gate processes.

• ● Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess supplier spend, pricing, and potential savings opportunities.

• ● Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

• ● High level of commercial judgment and confidence in conducting negotiations within established guidelines.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet tools for quote analysis, cost comparison, and savings tracking.

Preferred Qualifications (If applicable)

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.

• Experience managing cross-functional procurement projects involving Finance, Operations, Product, Supply Chain, or other business functions.

• Exposure to international sourcing and supply chain operations across Asia-Pacific markets.

• Experience in supplier rationalisation, category management, or procurement transformation programs.

• Knowledge of total cost of ownership, landed-cost analysis, and freight optimisation.

• Experience developing procurement business cases and presenting commercial recommendations to senior stakeholders.
