About the job Video Editor – Short-Form & Social Growth Specialist
Were looking for a highly creative, fast, and detail-oriented video editor who specializes in turning long-form podcast and video content into high-performing short-form clips for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and social platforms.
This role is about storytelling, pacing, and audience psychology—not just cutting clips. You must be able to identify mic-drop moments, emotional beats, humor, insight, or tension that stop the scroll and drive viewers to watch the full episode or click through to a website.
Youll be working across multiple brands and channels, each with its own tone and narrative.
Portfolio Requirement (Mandatory)
A portfolio is REQUIRED to be considered.
Your portfolio must include:
- Short-form clips created for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and/or TikTok
- Examples that demonstrate:
- Strong hooks in the first 1–3 seconds
- Clear narrative flow within short-form content
- Effective use of captions, graphics, and on-screen text
- Links to live posts or channels where possible (preferred)
Applications without a relevant short-form portfolio will not be reviewed.
Core Responsibilities
- Identify high-impact moments from long-form podcast and video episodes
- Create scroll-stopping short-form videos optimized per platform
- Build strong hooks immediately using:
- Clip selection
- On-screen text and kinetic captions
- Supporting graphics and subtle motion
- Follow and enhance the narrative arc (setup tension payoff)
- Add supporting visuals (zooming, punch-ins, b-roll, motion elements) that increase retention
- Maintain brand consistency across multiple clients and channels
- Work quickly and efficiently while maintaining high quality
- Collaborate with producers and content strategists to align clips with growth goals
Required Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience editing short-form social content
- Deep understanding of what performs on Shorts, Reels, and TikTok
- Ability to instinctively spot:
- Mic-drop moments
- Emotional beats
- Viral soundbites
- Advanced proficiency in professional video editing tools
- Strong typography, captioning, and graphic placement skills
- Excellent pacing, timing, and storytelling instincts
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
