About the job 6746 - QA/QC Executive

Company Ovrview:

A Malaysia-based power generation and system integration company located in Pasir Gudang, Johor, specializing in generator set (genset) assembly and customized power solutions. It delivers specification-driven, reliable power systems for industrial clients across Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and America, supporting global markets through engineering and export-standard manufacturing.

Summary:

The QA/QC Manager oversees all quality assurance and quality control activities across the product lifecycle for Coolpower generators. This role ensures products meet internal standards, industry regulations, and customer expectations from design through production, testing, commissioning, and after-sales support. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership with hands-on technical expertise in mechanical/electrical systems, fuels, emissions, and performance testing, and a track record of implementing robust QA/QC systems in a manufacturing environment.

Job Descriptions:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 (and relevant standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and customer-specific requirements.
  • Define quality objectives, metrics, and KPIs (e.g., First Pass Yield, DPPM, scrap rate, MTBF, customer complaint closure, CAPA closure rate).
  • Lead the validation and verification activities for new generator models and product upgrades, including design reviews, DFM/DFMEA, reliability testing, and field performance validation.
  • Oversight of incoming material inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection, and non-conforming material control.
  • Manage calibration program for all measurement and test equipment (M&TE) with traceability to national/international standards; maintain calibration schedules and records.
  • Develop and manage CAPA processes (Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, Fishbone, RCA templates), track actions, and verify effectiveness.
  • Establish and enforce testing protocols for performance (kW/kVA, fuel consumption, noise, vibration, emissions), safety (UL/CE/IEC tests as applicable), and endurance/ambient testing.
  • Lead audits (internal, supplier, process, and product) and coordinate successful customer and regulatory audits; implement corrective actions and sustainment plans.
  • Define and manage supplier quality program, including supplier qualification, performance monitoring, PPAP/PSW processes, and supplier corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and Supply Chain to ensure quality is built into the product from concept to end-of-life.
  • Risk management: identify quality risks in design, process, and supply chain; develop mitigation plans and contingency strategies.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) focused on quality, reliability, and cost reduction.
  • Define training programs for quality awareness, inspection techniques, and process controls; maintain up-to-date SOPs, work instructions, and QA documentation.
  • Customer-facing responsibilities: support claims investigation, provide data-driven responses, and drive persistent problem resolution with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations relevant to generator manufacturing, testing, and field service.
  • Budget ownership for QA/QC activities, tooling, calibration, and SPC/quality software, with periodic cost-benefit analyses.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (CQA, CQE, ASQ certifications) preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive QA/QC leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably in power generation, engines, electro-mechanical systems, or heavy equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001), with hands-on experience implementing or maintaining QMS in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with product testing for generators: performance testing (kW/kVA, fuel efficiency), emissions testing, noise/vibration, safety, and environmental testing.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and certifications relevant to generator products (UL, CE, IEC, ATEX/IECEx if applicable).
  • Proven track record with CAPA, root cause analysis, DRBFM/DFMEA, DFM/DFMEA, PFMEA.
  • Experience with supplier quality management and inbound quality control.
  • Proficiency with statistical methods and quality tools (SPC, MSA, Gage R&R, DOE) and data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, JMP, or similar).
  • Strong leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of calibration management and metrology best practices.
