Job Overview

The Manager – Research will lead equity and capital market research activities within the Stockbroking unit. The role will be responsible for developing investment views, preparing high-quality research reports and financial models, providing market insights to clients, and guiding junior research analysts to ensure timely and reliable research output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive financial and capital market research reports covering relevant financial and non-financial factors to support client advisory.
  • Formulate and recommend investment views on companies listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).
  • Develop, maintain, and update financial models for listed companies.
  • Prepare company, industry, and economic outlook reports.
  • Assist in developing trading strategy recommendations and written research notes.
  • Communicate and market investment ideas and recommendations to clients.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely distribution of weekly capital market status reports to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts and support their professional development.
  • Monitor internal research workflows to ensure efficient, accurate, and high-quality output.
  • Track market developments, economic trends, and company-specific factors to identify relevant investment opportunities and risks.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or another relevant field from a recognized university.
  • CFA, ACCA, or CA qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5–6 years of relevant experience in equity research.
  • Sound knowledge of the equity market and capital markets, particularly the Sri Lankan market.
  • Strong ability to build and interpret financial models and translate data into clear investment views.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to develop well-supported investment recommendations and communicate them effectively.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Motivated team player with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
