Location: San Jose, California

A global leader in power solutions is seeking a skilled Senior Failure Analysis Engineer to join its dynamic Quality Assurance team. In this key role, you will perform advanced diagnostics across AC/DC switching power supply modules and integrated circuits, supporting both internal teams and external customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Debug and verify functionality of AC/DC switching power supply modules using a variety of topologies.

  • Conduct fault isolation and defect analysis on power ICs to determine root causes of failures identified during reliability testing, production, or field use.

  • Produce comprehensive technical reports for internal teams and external customers, presenting clear findings and recommendations.

  • Provide direct support to resolve customer quality concerns, including occasional onsite visits to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Support customer quality resolution efforts across global teams, particularly in China and Taiwan.

  • Communicate effectively through detailed technical reports and discussions with diverse, international stakeholders.

Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years of experience in semiconductor failure analysis with a strong focus on power ICs, analog, and mixed-signal devices.

  • Deep knowledge of switch-mode power supply (SMPS) applications.

  • Ability to read and interpret system-level schematics, IC layouts, and CMOS/bipolar device designs.

  • Hands-on experience with fault isolation techniques at both the chip and PCB/system levels.

  • Outstanding technical writing and reporting skills in English.

  • Fluent in Mandarin to support communication with regional customer bases.

  • Previous customer-facing experience in quality resolution, especially in automotive environments, is highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSEE or equivalent with at least 3 years relevant experience.

  • Strong grasp of analog and power semiconductor device operations and failure mechanisms.
