Position Summary

The Production Manager will LEAD the development, implementation and continuous improvement of production processes which optimize efficiency and maximize throughput while maintaining established quality and safety standards. This position requires strong leadership, problem solving skills and technical expertise in an industrial production environment. Production Manager must teach and enforce company Standard Operating Procedures. Promoting teamwork is of the highest importance.

Essential Functions

Production Planning and Scheduling:

Develop production schedules to optimize internal efficiency and meet customer deadlines.

  • Train Team Leaders to effectively allocate labor and mechanical assets.
  • Coordinate with sales. and customer service to align production with customer expectations without negatively affecting internal efficiency

Establish expected production output/goals

  • Train Team Leader on expected outputs/ goals
  • Publish expected outputs/ goals effectively for entire team to understand
  • Responsible to analyze why and implement any necessary corrective actions - when outputs/ goals are not met.

Ensure production schedules do not sacrifice established quality and safety standards.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage; train and motivate production staff to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Mentor production team members for professional development.
  • Evaluate performance and provide c<>aching or corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate with HR regarding employee performance.
  • Identify production areas or individuals that need additional training.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance team to ensure finished products meet or exceed established quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to implement and maintain procedures focused on continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with Sales Team to assist on new and existing product analysis/ evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Team on PM, Repair and Improvement objectives.

Process Optimization:

  • Collaborate with Management team to develop production measurables (KPl's).
  • Train Production staff to understand production measurables.
  • Publish measured results for staff to know
  • Analyze workflow and production processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement manufacturing principles and strategies to reduce waste and enhance efficiency.

Equipment Maintenance and Safety:

  • Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of all equipment per company policy.
  • Responsible for production staff maintaining a clean and organized work area per company policy.
  • Responsible for production staff completing mechanical and chemical maintenance per company policy.
  • Ensure team members follow all safety rules and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Enforce compliance with established safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment (OSHA, Company, local agencies).

Budget Management:

  • Manage purchased materials essential to production (per company policy/ procedures)
  • Collaborate with Management team to monitor and control production costs, ensuring operations remain within budget.
  • Recommend cost-saving initic1tives without compromising quality or safety.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and present regular production reports, highlighting key metrics and performance indicators.

  • Investigate and present opportunities for production improvement.

Other Functions

Production Manager will collaborate with the management team to ensure company goals and strategies are in alignment. The Production Manage must maintain good presentation, attitude and constructive working relationships with individuals inside and outside the Company. This position must LEAD.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing, operations management, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a production management role within a manufacturing setting, preferably metal finishing or related industries.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a diverse team effectively.
  • Familiarity with ISO and other relevant industry standards.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Able to read blueprints.
  • Strong team player with demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to inspire and coordinate a diverse group of people.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast -paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to adapt well to change and to lead change efforts.
  • PC skills, especially MS Office.
  • Being bilingual is a plus.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk and handle parts. Secondarily, the employee is required to sit, carry, reach, stoop and stand. This job also requires clear vision at 20 inches or less and at 20 feet or more (can be correctable with lenses), peripheral vision and depth perception, and the ability to adjust eyes to bring an object into focus. Environment and Scheduling

  • Work is performed during regular business hours (7:00am - 4:30pm)
  • Work is performed in an administrative office and manufacturing plant setting.
  • Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary.
