About the job 2nd Shift CNC Set Up-Vertical Lathe
BASIC FUNCTION
This position is responsible for setting up Vertical CNC Lathes on existing parts as well as creating setups and programs for new parts.
OUTPUTS
- CNC Vertical Lathe experience required
- Conduct / assist with machine programming and setups
- Use measurement equipment (bore, height & thread gages, calipers, micrometers and optical comparator)
- Determine required in-process quality checks
- Provide training to machine operators on setup and production processes
- Generate and document work instructions, setup procedures and inspection sheets
- Support Management with special testing / projects
- Assist with root cause analysis on machining failures
- Monitor ongoing quality levels of machined products to proactively identify opportunities for improvement (Cost of Quality, Cycle Time Reductions, Tool Cost etc.)
- Operate CNC lathes and milling machines to produce engineering samples
QUANTITATIVE REQUIREMENTS
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Understanding of basic algebra and trigonometry
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word / Excel)
- Minimum 3 years related experience in setting up CNC Lathes, at least 1 year with fanuc controlled CNC Vertical Lathes
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Extensive experience CNC programming, setup, and the efficient operation of CNC Lathes
- Experienced with the fixturing and machining of castings and welded fabrications
- Must be a self-starter, comfortable working in a team environment
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, adhering to strict deadlines and commitments
- A creative thinker with the ability to raise the bar in CNC machining
- Ability to correspond effectively with co-workers, customers, and vendors
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
2nd Shift 4pm-12:30am (with overtime up to 2:30 am)
