About the job Financial Manager

The Financial Manager is to act as a 2IC to the Group Financial Manager. The Financial Manager is to ensure efficient financial planning, control, analysis, and reporting.

KEY FOCUS AREAS

  • Formulating budget estimates in support of program objectives; presenting and justifying budget requests; development of plans for allocating resources; monitoring program execution; reviewing and analyzing funding requirements; conducting comparative analyses to examine trends; reviewing budget policy and statutes to ensure compliance.
  • Manage all company cash flow requirements and application.
  • Define and implement a business model in conjunction with the Operations Manager and General Managers to achieve the strategic financial & operational objectives as directed by the shareholders.
  • Ensure optimal utilization and result of the Property Information Systems
  • Ensure compliance with all tax laws, statutory and regulatory requirements.
    • Co-ordinate and review the monthly, bi-annual, and annual tax returns for all companies with the Group Financial Manager.
    • Supervise and review the submission of the monthly VAT returns for all companies.
    • Assist with VAT audits requested by SARS.
    • Supervise and review the monthly processing and reconciliation of the payroll system to ensure that all applicable taxes are deducted as per the relevant legal requirement.
    • Review all remuneration agreements to ensure that any applicable fringe benefits (e.g. Use of company vehicles, housing) are paid in accordance with the latest applicable laws.
    • Supervise and review the adherence to statutory requirements for all transactions of the companies.
    • Documentation of all resolutions taken by the Board of Directors.
    • Facilitation of various meetings with auditors, and notification thereof, in accordance with legal requirement.
  • Procurement Procedures and Stock Control
  • Banking Controls - Manage and assist with maintaining all companies bank accounts including cheque, call, 32-day notice, fixed deposits, Wesbank finance leases, commercial loans, mortgage bonds etc.
  • Fixed Asset Register Ensure that the management company maintains and completes all company Fixed Asset Registers on a monthly basis and assist with the calculation of the monthly depreciation and process journal entries.
  • Debtors - Invoicing debtors for services rendered in all companies.

    • Completing the EMP201 monthly and paying this to SARS.
    • Submitting the UIF Declarations to the Dept of Labour monthly.
    • Completing the EMP501 mid-year reconciliation for all companies.
    • Completing the EMP501 end of year reconciliation for all companies.
    • Providing the staff with IRP5 certificates by 31 May each year.
    • Completing and maintaining the SARS e-Filing website.
    • Completing and maintaining e@syfile in accordance with SARS policies.
    • Ensuring all tax legislation is up to date.
    • Submitting the COID report annually and ensuring payment is made timeously.
    • Sign off and approve CATHSETA annual applications.

REQUIREMENTS QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Grade 12 (essential).
  • Finance qualification B. Com or equivalent with audit background. (essential)
  • Sound experience in a management role, 3 years minimum.
  • Sound knowledge of Operational and Financial Procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of Finance and Stock Control related processes and procedures.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office Suite, Pastel Xpress/Partner, Sage Intacct, and VIP Payroll (essential).
  • Sound knowledge of VIP Payroll (advantageous) and Property Management systems (advantageous).
  • Sound knowledge of planning, budgeting, forecasting and departmental administration.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding targets.
