Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Marketing and E-commerce Lead to own the day-to-day digital marketing execution and coordination for a UK-based seafood supplier selling primarily direct-to-consumer through Shopify, with additional retail and wholesale channels. This role is intended as an 8-month contract coverage to maintain momentum while the marketing leadership seat is in transition, with potential to continue beyond the contract depending on fit and business needs.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can operate as a senior individual contributor in a small team. You will manage key digital channels directly (especially CRM like email and SMS) while also leading external agency partners across performance marketing and Shopify development. The ideal candidate brings strong DTC e-commerce experience, can manage meaningful paid media budgets through agencies, and can critically assess current digital performance to help refresh and improve the marketing approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the digital marketing and e-commerce day-to-day across Shopify, CRM, and campaign execution
Plan, build, and deploy email and SMS campaigns internally, coordinating with content planning and internal stakeholders
Manage and coordinate external agency partners, including performance marketing (Meta/Google) and Shopify development
Oversee campaign calendars, briefs, and timelines to ensure consistent execution across channels
Act as the day-to-day point of contact for agencies, ensuring clarity on goals, deliverables, and performance expectations
Monitor channel performance and report insights, focusing on what is working, what is not, and what should change
Critically appraise the current digital approach and provide recommendations to improve results and avoid stagnation
Support e-commerce site updates through the Shopify agency roadmap, helping prioritize and track key initiatives
Collaborate with the internal marketing executive and leadership to align priorities, budgets, and weekly execution
Qualifications:
5+ years experience in DTC e-commerce marketing, ideally in a Shopify environment
Experience owning email and SMS marketing end-to-end, including planning, copy coordination, deployment, and performance review
Experience managing performance marketing via an agency, including briefing, budget oversight, and performance discussions
Comfortable managing and tracking paid budgets in the range of approximately $40,000 to $50,000 per month through agency partners
Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and moving parts
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to diagnose performance drops and propose clear next steps
Experience working with international clients or teams, comfortable operating in a remote setup across time zones
Strong communication skills and ability to operate with ownership in a lean team environment
Nice to Have:
Experience in food, grocery, or perishable product categories (helpful but not required)
Experience supporting retail and wholesale channel coordination alongside DTC
Experience improving or revitalizing a mature/stagnant digital marketing program through fresh audits and iteration
Ability to complete a short assessment or live scenario task to demonstrate thought process and approach to solving performance issues
