Job Description:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-driven Inventory Demand Planner who can take full ownership of the inventory planning function across multiple eCommerce brands. This role requires deep competency in forecasting, SKU-level analysis, unit economics, and supporting real-time financial decision-making.
This is a specialised role focused only on forecasting and planning, with no supplier management or procurement responsibilities. The Demand Planner will play a critical role in maintaining accurate inventory projections and ensuring these seamlessly align with the FP&A teams cash flow forecasts.
The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, works accurately under pressure, communicates clearly, and brings strong eCommerce experience. You will manage planning cycles, optimise stock levels, and identify financial risks and opportunities through SKU-level performance analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Forecasting and Planning
Build and maintain accurate demand forecasts using historical sales, seasonality, trends, and promotional activity
Execute weekly, monthly, and quarterly planning cycles with precision
Plan replenishment timelines to maintain optimal stock availability
Monitor stock cover, inventory turnover, and demand variability; adjust forecasts accordingly
Work closely with FP&A to ensure inventory projections match cash flow expectations
Data Accuracy and SKU-Level Analysis
Maintain complete accuracy of inventory data within all systems
Conduct SKU-level margin, unit economics, and sell-through analysis
Identify slow-moving, overstocked, and underperforming SKUs and flag financial risk early
Reconcile discrepancies in inventory counts and data feeds
Produce reporting dashboards for forecasting accuracy, inventory KPIs, and stock efficiency
Cost Optimisation
Reduce landed cost per unit through demand planning and consolidation strategies
Optimise order quantities by evaluating MOQ vs. carrying cost trade-offs
Identify consolidation opportunities across SKUs to reduce logistics and unit cost
Recommend product rationalisation based on profitability and contribution margin insights
Cycle and Stock Management
Oversee inventory planning rhythms and ensure timely updates
Collaborate with marketing on campaign impacts and product launchesRun stock cover reports, ageing reports, and forward-looking supply position analysis
Cross-Functional Support
Provide brands, marketing, and finance teams with clear, accurate inventory insights to guide decision-making
Flag inventory risk (overstock, stockouts, absorption issues) before it becomes a cash flow problemSupport strategic planning by providing visibility over future stock requirements and cost timing
Qualifications:
Proven experience as an Inventory or Demand Planner
Strong eCommerce industry experience preferred
Ability to analyse SKU performance, demand variability, and unit economics
Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
High accuracy, exceptional attention to detail, and consistency in reporting
Ability to manage multiple planning cycles and deadlines
Strong communication skills
Analytical thinker with proactive problem-solving skills
Nice-to-Have:
Experience with ERP or WMS systems
Experience with Shopify or Amazon
Experience working with sales analytics, contribution margin, or FP&A teams
