About the Opportunity

We are recruiting experienced plaintiff-side personal injury attorneys to help build an in-house personal injury practice within a mission-driven, venture-backed legal services organization.

This is an opportunity for attorneys who have considered building their own practice but want the resources, infrastructure, and support of an established organization without personally assuming the financial risks associated with launching a firm.

The organization has an established presence in helping individuals navigate complex legal and government systems and is expanding its work in personal injury representation.

Attorneys joining this practice will work alongside experienced legal professionals, software engineers, and business operators focused on helping the practice grow. The organization provides resources for client acquisition, practice development, staffing, and continuing education.

The position offers meaningful autonomy, the opportunity to influence the development of a growing legal practice, and direct involvement in decisions affecting clients, hiring, and the broader direction of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent personal injury clients from intake through resolution, primarily in motor vehicle accident and premises liability matters.

  • Directly represent severely injured clients in pre-litigation negotiations, mediation, and, where appropriate, trial.

  • Evaluate prospective cases and determine which matters the practice should accept.

  • Develop case strategies and make decisions designed to maximize client recovery.

  • Provide exceptional client service, including meeting with clients in person when necessary.

  • Collaborate with organizational leadership on the development and growth of the personal injury practice.

  • Help shape hiring decisions, team structure, and the practice's brand.

  • Partner with marketing professionals to differentiate the practice.

  • Collaborate with the product team to establish standards for after-hours client support.

  • Contribute to building a plaintiff-side practice centered on client service and helping individuals navigate difficult circumstances.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of personal injury experience at a plaintiff-side law firm. Candidates with 4–5 years of experience are particularly aligned with the target profile.

  • Experience handling motor vehicle accident and/or premises liability cases.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage personal injury matters from intake through resolution, including case evaluation, strategy, and settlement.

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited, nonprofit law school ranked approximately within the top 50 of U.S. News & World Report law school rankings.

  • Active license to practice law in California.

  • Current residence in California.

  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule, primarily remotely, with occasional in-person client meetings at the Los Angeles or San Francisco office.

  • A stable professional history demonstrating commitment and professional development.

  • Strong client service skills, sound judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to helping individuals through challenging circumstances.

  • A strong record of positive client relationships and professional conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years of plaintiff-side personal injury experience.

  • Experience managing a substantial number of injury cases independently from intake through resolution, ideally 100 or more.

  • Exposure to taking cases to trial or a background as a trial attorney.

  • Experience supervising non-attorney professionals, including intake, case management, or support staff.

  • A professional network of personal injury attorneys for referrals or co-counsel relationships.

  • Experience operating an independent law firm or working in a startup environment.

  • Interest in entrepreneurship, practice development, or building a legal practice.

  • Demonstrated career advancement or extended tenure with a law firm.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary ranges from $170,000 to $300,000, depending on experience.

Candidates with approximately 4–5 years of experience will generally fall in the low $200,000s, while exceptional candidates may qualify for base compensation up to $300,000.

Additional compensation includes:

  • Competitive equity.

  • Employee benefits.

  • Performance-based bonuses, initially tied to performance targets.

  • A compensation model that can transition over time toward revenue sharing based on case performance.

As attorneys begin successfully resolving cases, bonuses for top performers have the potential to increase total compensation to two or three times base salary.

The organization also provides significant continuing education and professional training opportunities.

Work Arrangement

This position is open to attorneys based anywhere in California.

The work arrangement is primarily remote, with occasional in-person attendance at the Los Angeles or San Francisco office for client meetings.

The organization covers travel to meet with colleagues and attend company offsites.
