About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer with 5+ years of experience to help build an AI-native platform transforming how small businesses and their employees access healthcare benefits.

The company is replacing traditional, manual insurance brokerage workflows with AI-powered technology that handles plan research, quoting, enrollment, and ongoing servicing. The goal is to make high-quality benefits guidance accessible to small businesses that have historically been underserved.

This is an opportunity to join a small, mission-driven engineering team and take ownership of the product experience end to end, from data models and APIs to polished, intuitive user interfaces.

We are looking for a builder who cares deeply about the people using the product, has shipped software from start to finish, works effectively with AI and LLM agents, and holds a high standard for creating software people genuinely enjoy using.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build an advisor-facing console where users can monitor AI agent activity, take action when needed, and coordinate work between humans and AI agents.

  • Develop the small business experience, including quoting, plan selection, and onboarding.

  • Create employee-facing experiences for benefits enrollment, ID cards, coverage information, and changes throughout the year.

  • Design Python and TypeScript APIs and data models connecting AI agents, insurance carrier data, and operational workflows, with human oversight when agents encounter issues.

  • Work directly with internal stakeholders, advisors, and clients to understand challenges and turn complex problems into shipped solutions.

  • Take technical ownership of projects from initial concept through deployment, measuring their impact on users and business operations.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–12 years of full-stack software engineering experience.

  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.

  • Genuine full-stack engineering capabilities, including strong React or modern frontend framework experience. Backend-only or frontend-only experience is not sufficient.

  • Demonstrated experience independently owning and shipping products end to end.

  • Experience working at a recognizable FAANG/big tech company, a high-growth Series A–D startup, or as a founder with demonstrated product traction.

  • Computer Science or related degree from a top-25 university.

  • Hands-on AI engineering experience involving agents, evaluations, LLM APIs, or fine-tuning.

  • Strong product instincts and the ability to build intuitive, polished user experiences.

  • Ability to collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and translate ambiguous business problems into working software.

  • Humble, service-oriented approach with a genuine interest in improving access to healthcare and employee benefits.

  • Ability to work on-site five days per week in San Francisco or New York City.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare technology or insurance technology.

  • Experience with React and modern frontend frameworks.

  • Experience working in early-stage, AI-native environments.

Technology Stack

Python, TypeScript, React, MCP, LLMs, AI Agents

Compensation & Work Location

  • Base Salary: 175,000–250,000, with potential up to $300,000 for highly experienced candidates (around 8 years).

  • Equity: Competitive equity.

  • Location: San Francisco, CA or New York, NY.

  • Schedule: Full-time, five days per week in-office.

  • Visa Sponsorship: Open to visa transfers, including OPT and H-1B transfers, as well as new sponsorship, including H-1B and TN.

Who Will Thrive Here

This opportunity is well suited to an engineer who enjoys building products from the ground up, taking ownership of complex problems, and working closely with the people who use their software.

The team values service, humility, technical excellence, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with AI. Candidates should be comfortable in a small, fast-moving environment where collaboration, independent problem-solving, and meaningful customer impact are central to the work.
