Position Summary:

  • We are seeking a mission-focused Systems Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and lifecycle management of aviation and ground systems for Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The ideal candidate brings expertise in systems engineering, software / hardware integration, and activities related to full lifecycle of products and systems. The candidate must be comfortable operating in a secure, regulated, and cross-domain environment and be able to manage their task independently. You will help develop mission-critical systems supporting warfighter operations, platform sustainment, and modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage system-level requirements and architectures for complex aviation and ground platforms. 
  • Perform system decomposition and traceability using tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or similar. 
  • Support integration of embedded software, avionics, sensors, into aviation and ground-based systems. 
  • Support development and verification in accordance with DoD standards. Participate in trade studies, CONOPS development, system modeling, and simulation. 
  • Learn multiple subsystems and acquire domain knowledge about systems usage to support full lifecycle development and sustainment activities. 
  • Use AI and other tools to accelerate the learning and create deliverables for the customers. 
  • Support system integration labs (SILs), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and field tests. 
  • Generate and review key systems engineering documentation such as System Requirement Specifications (SRS), Interface Control Documents (ICD), System / Software Design Documents (SDD), Systems Engineering Plans (SEP), etc. 
  • Collaborate across functional teams, government stakeholders, and contractors to ensure compliance with technical, cybersecurity, and operational requirements. 
  • Contribute to risk management, configuration control, and technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field. 
  • 10 years of experience in systems engineering within aerospace, defense, or similar regulated environments.
  • Working knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle (DoDI 5000 series) and SE standards (e.g., INCOSE, IEEE 15288). 
  • Experience with software/hardware integration on airborne or ground platforms.
  • Proficient with systems engineering tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Cameo, Rhapsody, MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Understanding of cybersecurity and mission assurance principles (e.g., RMF, STIGs).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
  • Operational experience as a veteran.
  • Familiarity with MBSE and SysML-based modeling.
  • Background in test planning and execution in military environments.
  • Knowledge of safety-critical and airworthiness requirements.
