Substitute Teachers (Guest Teachers)

We are hiring for qualified substitutes for Kindergarten through 8th grades, two homeschool enrichment classes, all specialty subjects: Integrated Services, Spanish, handwork, games/PE, music, practical arts, gardening, performing arts, etc., and administrative support, for the 2025-26 school year. We are currently accepting applications for candidates who would like to be invited for daily jobs as they occur.

As a Substitute Teacher/Guest Teacher, you will be responsible for providing instruction and support to students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. You will follow lesson plans and maintain classroom management to ensure a productive and safe learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow lesson plans left by the absent teacher and deliver instruction to students
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Communicate with school staff and administration as needed
  • Provide support and assistance to students as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress
  • Follow all school policies and procedures

Substitute/Guest Teacher Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelors Degree, pursuit of a Bachelors Degree, or a minimum of two years experience in an educational setting
  • Previous experience as a substitute teacher or in a similar role preferred
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to different teaching styles and classroom environments
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in different grade levels and subject area

Preferred

  • Waldorf Teacher Certification and/or experience in a Waldorf educational environment
  • Colorado Teaching or Substitute License

Compensation and Hours:

The standard school hours are 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 8 AM to 1 PM on Friday. Our substitutes start at an hourly wage of $21 for unlicensed candidates and $23 for licensed professionals. All paid positions are eligible to participate in PERA, the public employee retirement system.
