At Mountain Sage, we embrace the principles of Waldorf education by creating enriching experiences that support the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of our students. As a Library & Garden Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in engaging elementary students through storytelling and movement-based activities during their weekly library class. Additionally, you will support our lead gardening teacher helping to foster a love for nature and sustainable practices. This position combines creativity, outdoor engagement, and educational support, aligning with our mission to nurture well-rounded, curious learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead weekly library classes for elementary-aged students, fostering a love of reading and storytelling.
- Plan and deliver engaging stories, incorporating movement, dance, or physical activity to enhance student engagement.
- Support the lead gardening teacher with garden maintenance tasks including planting, watering, harvesting, and general upkeep.
- Assist with miscellaneous duties aligned with the 11:00 AM 4:00 PM schedule, such as supervision, setup, cleanup, or other related tasks.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and interactive learning environment.

Required Qualifications:
- Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
- Strong storytelling and communication skills.
- Creative and comfortable incorporating movement, dance, or physical activity into lessons.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with school staff.
- Possess intermediate gardening knowledge.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage in active movement and outdoor work.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Hours and Benefits:
The schedule is Monday-Friday 11 AM-4 PM on all days that school is in session. As a part-time position working more than 24 hours a week, this position qualifies for our benefits at the 50% level.
