At Mountain Sage, we embrace the principles of Waldorf education, creating enriching experiences that nurture the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of our students. As a Paraprofessional, you'll play a vital role in providing individualized support to students and assisting teachers in creating a positive and engaging classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support in Curriculum Delivery:
- Assist teachers in implementing engaging lesson plans that align with the Waldorf curriculum, including supporting students during artistic activities, hands-on projects, and experiential learning.
- Facilitate small group instruction and provide one-on-one support to students in core subjects such as math, language arts, science, and social studies.
Differentiation:
- Tailor support to meet the diverse learning needs of students, using varied methods such as visual aids, manipulatives, and technology to enhance understanding.
- Provide individualized assistance to students who may require additional help or enrichment opportunities.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Participate in ongoing observations and assessments of student performance, providing teachers with insight into student progress and needs.
Assist in tracking student progress through anecdotal notes and contribute to regular feedback provided to students and parents regarding academic growth.
Classroom Management:
- Help establish and maintain a warm, safe, and respectful classroom environment that promotes cooperation, responsibility, and a love of learning among student.
- Support positive classroom management strategies that encourage student engagement and respectful behavior throughout the school day.
School Safety:
Assist with school safety measures, ensuring that students understand and adhere to safety protocols within the classroom and during school activities.
Help supervise students to ensure a safe environment during transitions, activities, and emergencies.
Recess and Traffic Duty:
Supervise students during recess to promote safe play, positive interactions, and conflict resolution among peers.
Manage traffic duty responsibilities to ensure the safety of students during arrival and dismissal times, guiding them while crossing streets and navigating parking areas.

Required Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent; associates degree or coursework in education or child development preferred.
Experience working with children in a classroom setting or similar environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of elementary and middle school education concepts and differentiation strategies.
Technology proficiency and familiarity with educational tools.
Preferred Qualifications
A bachelors degree in education, child development, or a related field.
Experience or training in Waldorf education or arts-integrated education practices.
Compensation and Hours
Hours are 8am-4pm Monday through Friday during the academic school year. The pay range starts at $18.50 per hour and is dependent upon certification and relevant experience.
