Job Description:
Paraprofessional
Mountain Sage Community School – Fort Collins, CO
Mountain Sage Community School, a Waldorf-inspired public charter school serving grades K–8, is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and flexible Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs for the 2026–2027 school year. If you are committed to fostering inclusive learning environments and supporting students academic and social-emotional growth, we invite you to apply.
At Mountain Sage, we emphasize holistic education rooted in Waldorf principles, combined with a strong commitment to equitable support for all learners. As an integral part of our team, the Paraprofessional works closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, specialists, and families to implement personalized supports that promote success for every student within the general education setting.
The successful candidate collaborates with teachers and related service providers to implement education plans and behavioral strategies, and assists in adapting instructional materials and activities to ensure accessibility for students with diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities, English language learners, and those requiring social-emotional support. They support the creation of a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect, responsibility, and a love of learning, and help maintain a positive classroom climate through restorative practices and proactive behavior strategies.
Family partnership and communication are important aspects of this role. In collaboration with teachers and specialists, paraprofessionals communicate effectively with families about students progress, needs, and supports, and contribute to a welcoming environment that encourages family participation and supports students holistic development.
School safety is a shared responsibility. Paraprofessionals assist with safety protocols within the classroom and during school activities, supervise students during transitions and emergencies, and play an active role in maintaining a safe learning environment. This position also includes regular supervision during recess and traffic duty, promoting safe play, positive peer interactions, and student safety during arrival and dismissal.
In addition to required qualifications, the ideal candidate brings an understanding of arts-integrated and experiential education, a commitment to nurturing classroom culture, a collaborative spirit, and a dedication to ongoing professional development in service of students and the school community.
Required Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; associates degree or coursework in education or child development preferred.
