3rd Grade Classroom Teacher, 26-27 School Year
Job Description:
3rd Grade Teacher
Mountain Sage Community School – Fort Collins, CO
Mountain Sage Community School, a Waldorf-inspired public charter school serving grades K–8, is excited to welcome a passionate and dedicated 3rd Grade Teacher to our vibrant faculty. If you are committed to nurturing curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in children, we invite you to apply.
At Mountain Sage, we embrace the principles of Waldorf education, creating rich learning experiences that support the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of each child. The 3rd Grade Teacher plays a vital role in cultivating a joyful, engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration, critical thinking, and artistic expression.
The successful candidate will design and deliver engaging instruction aligned with Colorado Academic Standards and Waldorf-inspired curriculum. Teaching includes core subjects such as language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies through hands-on, project-based, and developmentally appropriate approaches. Instruction is enriched through storytelling, movement, artistic activities, and experiential learning that bring academic content to life.
Teachers at Mountain Sage differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and emotional needs of students. This includes providing targeted support and enrichment, using a variety of instructional strategies such as group work, visual aids, manipulatives, and sensory-based learning to ensure all students are appropriately challenged and supported.
Assessment is grounded in careful observation, informal assessment, and authentic performance-based activities. The 3rd Grade Teacher maintains clear documentation of student progress and communicates regularly with families about academic growth and developmental milestones.
Classroom culture is central to our work. Teachers establish a warm, respectful, and well-organized learning environment, implement positive classroom management practices, and encourage independence, cooperation, and intrinsic motivation. Fostering a strong sense of community and a love of learning is essential.
Collaboration is a core expectation. The 3rd Grade Teacher works closely with grade-level colleagues, specialists, and support staff, participates in team and student support meetings, and contributes to school festivals, events, and the broader life of the school community.
Strong family partnership is essential to our program. Teachers build respectful relationships with families, facilitate conferences and communication, and encourage family involvement in classroom life and school activities.
Professional growth is an ongoing priority. Teachers participate in professional development related to Waldorf education and best practices in elementary instruction, remain open to coaching and feedback, and attend required trainings and school-based learning activities.
