Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and care for the schools building and grounds, ensuring a safe, attractive, and operational environment.
  • Oversee equipment, supplies, repairs, and renovation projects, scheduling and coordinating necessary work efficiently.
  • Conduct safety inspections, ensure compliance with safety standards, and respond promptly to urgent issues.
  • Supervise the custodial staff or cleaning crew, including tending to daytime custodial needs and ensuring the campus stays clean and inviting.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with staff, leadership, vendors, and contractors especially during emergencies or urgent situations.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of building systems to provide effective oversight and support campus operations.
  • Manage small supply purchases and inventory, such as ordering paper products, cleaning supplies, and other essentials, with an emphasis on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • A proactive mindset, capable of working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance, safety protocols, and facilities management best practices.
  • Ability to handle routine repairs, coordinate projects, and maintain a well-kept campus environment.
  • Flexibility, quick thinking, and problem-solving skills to effectively respond to emergencies or urgent needs.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with staff, vendors, and the school community.

Supervisory & Operational Details:

  • Reports directly to the School Director, working collaboratively on large project or budget items.
  • Currently, manages a contracted cleaning crew.
  • Responsible for scheduling, training, inventories, and supplies for contracted custodial staff, if applicable.
  • All major projects or structural work require prior approval from the School Director.

Compensation & Schedule:

The schedule aligns with our full-time teacher calendar, operating from August through May.

Work is required on holiday and summer breaks, but can be flexible based on the candidates availability.

Compensation starts at $25/hour and reflects the importance of this vital role in supporting our schools success.
