TITLE

Specialty Vehicle Installer - Directly reporting to the Shop Foreman

SUMMARY

The Specialty Vehicle Installer will be responsible for adding and removing parts and components to vehicles according to specific directions to meet wheelchair or Medical Vehicle customization needs. They will install ramps and other adaptations by aligning components to vehicles. This individual must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, disassemble vehicle components and store for future use, align, assemble, and fit final assembly parts and accessories to vehicles.

HOURS

Full-Time (7:00-3:30pm)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Vehicle Modification & Installation

  • Responsible for completing custom modifications to
  • Modify vehicle fittings, shelving units.
  • Install wheelchair ramps and other parts to vehicles.
  • Assemble and install vehicle accessories, installation of ceiling, windows, seats, floor systems, heat ducts and exterior & interior sidewalls.
  • Fit carpet and floor, wall and ceiling material.
  • Weld metal parts to vehicles.
  • Use a variety of handheld tools and power equipment to complete modification and installation work.

Blueprints, Manuals & Compliance

  • Read blueprint and instruction documentation to conduct custom installation work.
  • Consult manufacturers manuals to ensure proper installation.
  • Ensure that all adaptations and modifications comply with legal standards.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with rules, standards, or regulations.

Inspection, Testing & Quality Control

  • Inspect vehicles, installed equipment and other pieces for evidence of damage or mechanical malfunction.
  • Inspect installation and repairs to vehicles or the equipment installed to ensure that all work completed was performed properly.
  • Conduct tests to ensure modifications are installed correctly and meeting specified modifications.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare reports and complete paperwork as required based on modifications completed. Complete all necessary documentation.
  • Monitor parts installed, record parts usage.
  • Accurately complete work orders within designated timelines.

Work Conditions

  • Manual dexterity is required for operating hand and power tools, as well as using a desktop computer and related peripherals.
  • May be required to lift or move items weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, squatting, and performing tasks in physically uncomfortable positions or underneath vehicles.
  • Exposure to strong odors, loud noise levels, and varying environmental conditions (indoor and outdoor work).
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn, including steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses or goggles, protective clothing, gloves, and air filtration devices as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Certification in Automotive discipline considered an asset
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience such as; assembly, auto body, mechanics, fabrication

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
