Job Overview

The Control Room Operator – Security Operations is responsible for the effective monitoring, coordination, and response management of all security systems and field resources from the control room environment. The role ensures real‑time surveillance, incident detection, emergency response coordination, and accurate communication with internal teams, clients, and external authorities. Key responsibilities include CCTV monitoring, alarm management, dispatching armed response and guarding teams, maintaining incident logs, ensuring compliance with security protocols, and supporting continuous improvement of control room procedures. The position requires a high level of vigilance, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. Must be based in Pretoria and/or surrounding areas.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Valid PSIRA registration (minimum Grade C; Grade B or A advantageous)
  • Relevant security, surveillance, or control room certification advantageous
  • Minimum 2–5 years' experience in a security control room or operations centre environment
  • Proven experience with CCTV surveillance systems, alarm monitoring, and access control platforms
  • Experience dispatching response teams and liaising with emergency services (SAPS, EMS, Fire)
  • Knowledge of security legislation, incident reporting, and standard operating procedures
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Clear criminal record
  • Must be based in Pretoria and surrounding suburbs

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and tracking platforms
  • Identify, assess, and escalate security threats or irregular activities
  • Dispatch appropriate response units and track response effectiveness
  • Maintain accurate incident reports, shift logs, and escalation records
  • Communicate with stakeholders, supervisors, and emergency services as required
  • Ensure compliance with PSIRA regulations and company policies
  • Support audits, investigations, and post‑incident reviews
  • Participate in continuous improvement of control room procedures
