Engineer, FPSO Design Instrumentation & Control (I&C)

(Third Party Contractor)

Singapore-based Role.

Role Purpose: 

The Instrumentation & Control Design Engineer is responsible for the interface with CTR in a lease and operate context for the design, specification, procurement support, testing, commissioning, and offshore delivery of instrumentation, control, safety, and automation systems for FPSO projects from Detailed Engineering through final handover.

The role ensures that all instrumentation and control systems are delivered safely, reliably, and in compliance with project specifications, applicable standards, classification requirements, and client expectations.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

    Detailed Engineering

    • Develop and review instrumentation and control engineering deliverables.
    • Prepare instrument specifications, datasheets, hook-up drawings, and installation details.
    • Develop instrument indexes, I/O lists, cable schedules, and junction box schedules.
    • Review P&IDs and process control philosophies.


    Control & Safety Systems

    Provide engineering support for:

    • Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
    • Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD)
    • Fire & Gas Systems (F&G)
    • Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS)
    • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
    • Package control systems
    • Process analyzers
    • Metering and custody transfer systems


    Procurement & Vendor Management

    • Prepare technical requisitions and specifications.
    • Perform technical bid evaluations.
    • Review vendor documentation and software architecture.
    • Manage interfaces between control system vendors and project teams.


    Design Assurance

    • Ensure compliance with:
      • IEC
      • ISA
      • API
      • IEC 61508 / IEC 61511
      • Classification Society requirements
      • Client specifications
    • Participate in HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, FAT, SAT, and design reviews.


    Construction, Commissioning & Delivery

    • Support construction and integration yard activities.
    • Participate in FAT, loop testing, functional testing, and commissioning.
    • Support offshore hook-up and startup activities.
    • Ensure completion of punch-list items and handover documentation.

Qualifications include but are not limited to the following: 

Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, or Control Engineering.

Experience:

  • 5–15 years in offshore oil and gas projects.
  • Experience with FPSO, LNG, offshore platform, or refinery projects.
  • Proven experience through Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning phases.

Skills: 

  1. Knowledge
  • DCS, ESD, F&G, ICSS systems.
  • SIL and functional safety.
  • Instrument design and specification.
  • Control system architecture.
  • Commissioning and startup support.
