Drilling Completion & Engineering Advisor

(Direct Contract - Fixed Term Employee)

Role Purpose:

Serve as the technical authority for all drilling, completion, and well services activities, ensuring wells are safely and efficiently planned, executed, and delivered in compliance with Mubadala Energys standards, SKK Migas regulations, and international best practices. Provide expert leadership, governance, and technical guidance to the drilling and engineering team, driving operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Represent Mubadala Energy in all drilling and completion activities as the principal technical advisor.
  • Lead the design, planning, execution, and close-out of drilling, completion, and well intervention programs aligned with business and regulatory objectives.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to onshore and offshore personnel, fostering capability development and high-performance culture.
  • Promote a robust safety culture and ensure adherence to HSE standards and legal requirements in all operations.

Operational & Engineering Oversight

  • Oversee the preparation and implementation of well designs, drilling programs, and completion operations, covering casing, fluids, BHA design, cementation, hydraulics, and wellhead configuration.
  • Ensure compliance with Mubadala Energys Operations Management System (OMS), Drilling Well Engineering Standards (DWES), Well Integrity Manual (WIMS), and SKK Migas requirements.
  • Monitor and analyze operational performance, costs, and risks, taking corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve well delivery.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and quality assurance during rig site operations to maintain well integrity and operational continuity.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Coordinate with internal functions (Subsurface, HSSE, Finance, SCM) and external stakeholders (SKK Migas, Ministry of Energy, JV partners, service providers) to ensure smooth program execution.
  • Lead simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) assessments and provide engineering input to field development and construction projects.

Commercial & Resource Management

  • Manage drilling budgets for exploration, development, and well services activities, ensuring cost efficiency and value optimization.
  • Oversee supply chain and contract management for drilling services, including tendering, bidding, and vendor performance evaluation.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • Drive performance improvement initiatives through KPI tracking, audits, lessons learned, and application of new technologies and innovations.
  • Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and technical reviews for senior management to support informed decision-making.



Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, or related discipline); advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 20 years of professional experience in the oil and gas industry, with extensive offshore drilling exposure.
  • Proven expertise in drilling engineering, well design, and operations management.
  • Experience as a rig site drilling supervisor is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Indonesias upstream regulatory environment and SKK Migas requirements.

Skills:

  • Strong technical proficiency in well engineering, drilling technologies, and operations management systems.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Skilled in planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is a plus.
  • Safety-driven mindset with demonstrated ability to handle complex technical and operational challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital platforms for reporting, analysis, and technical documentation.
