Engineer, Pre-com & commissioning – GEP & SURF

Role Purpose:
A Pre-commissioning & Commissioning Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all activities required to prepare a subsea system for safe startup and operation. This includes mechanical completion verification, testing, cleaning, and system handover to operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop/review pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures for subsea systems (Gas Export Pipeline, Flowlines, Subsea Xmas Trees, PLETs, manifolds, umbilicals)
- Review design documents (P&IDs, Isometrics, alignment sheets, datasheets).
- Define method statements for:
- Flooding, cleaning, gauging
- Hydrostatic testing
- Dewatering and drying
- Prepare commissioning dossiers and system boundaries.
- Pipeline/Flowline cleaning (pigging, flushing)
- Gauging to confirm internal diameter integrity
- Hydrotest (strength & leak test)
- Test water sourcing, treatment, and disposal
- Chemical dosing (corrosion inhibitor, oxygen scavenger)
- Ensure compliance with specifications and codes (e.g., SNI, DNV, API).
- Dewatering using air or nitrogen pigging
- Drying to required dew point (e.g., -20°C or lower depending spec)
- Moisture content
- Dew point measurement
- Prepare pipeline for hydrocarbon introduction.
- Leak testing
- Nitrogen purging / inerting
- Final system reinstatement
- Topside / FPSO / onshore facilities
- Support first hydrocarbon introduction.
- Lay vessels
- Construction vessels
- FPSO
- Supervise subcontractors and vendors.
- Ensure execution aligns with project schedule and safety standards.
- Test reports
- Punch lists
- System completion certificates (RFSU / RFO)
- Compile commissioning dossiers for handover to operations team.
- Ensure all QA/QC documentation is complete and approved.
- Risk assessments (HAZID, JSA)
- Toolbox talks
- Ensure safe handling of:
- High-pressure systems
- Chemicals
- Nitrogen operations

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/Master degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Offshore / Ocean Engineering
- Petroleum Engineering
- Civil Engineering
Experience:
- Minimum 10 yrs solid experience years in pre-commissioning & commissioning of subsea system in oil & gas.
- Minimum 10 yrs solid experience in deepwater projects.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of:
- Subsea architecture (Gas Export Pipeline, Flowlines, Subsea Xmas Trees, PLETs, manifolds, umbilicals) & materials
- Pigging operations
- Hydrotesting standards
- Familiar with codes:
- SNI
- DNV-ST-N001
- API standards
- Other Oil & Gas international standards
- Strong coordination & leadership offshore
- Problem-solving under pressure
- Effective communication with multi-disciplinary teams
