Role Purpose:
The Senior Drilling Engineer serves as the key interface between the Drilling Department and Subsurface department, ensuring seamless integration of drilling, completion and well flow back activities within the overall Well objectives, across exploration, appraisal and development wells.
The Senior Drilling Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing deepwater well construction operations while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, schedule and cost.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure seamless integration of D&C well construction activities within overall project scope and compliance with DWES, WIMS, regulatory and industry standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring adherence to Company HSSE policies, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Develop detailed schedule of Drilling interface with other functions.
Provide clear and effective communication between Drilling, Subsurface and relevant Project team functions. - Provide clear and effective communication within the drilling team (Drilling, Completion and Well test functions) and interface with SPS to aid delivery of CLS, IWOCS and ROV functional and operational requirements.
- Facilitate decision-making processes by presenting insights and technical recommendations.
- Conduct risk assessments for any deviation from the agreed project timelines.
- Identify and promote opportunities to improve overall operational efficiency.
- Lead drilling input into feasibility studies, conceptual design, execution planning, and project decision-making.
- Monitor project progress, maintain accurate documentation, and support risk assessments and Management of Change (MoC) processes.
- Collaborate with Subsurface, Project, and Operations teams to ensure well objectives are met within approved milestones and budgets.
- Build strong collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout planning and execution.
- Contribute to hazard identification (HAZID/HAZOP), DWOP/CWOP/TWOP, SIMOPs, and pre-job planning activities.
- Provide Wells input to handover documentation and support updates to the Well Delivery Process and DWES.
- Contribute to updating and management of the Mubadala Energy Drilling Well Delivery Process and DWES standard, ensuring it is followed during well planning, design, engineering, execution and well/project closeout activities.
Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering
Experience:
- 15+ years of relevant experience, including:
- 10+ years in offshore and deepwater drilling engineering, operations and subsea responsibility.
- Offshore Supervisory experience
Skills:
- Knowledge
- Strong understanding of deepwater well design, subsea systems, and drilling technologies.
- Proven track record in project coordination and interfacing with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in contractor and vendor management within offshore drilling environments.
- Strong understanding of deepwater well design, subsea systems, and drilling technologies.
- Soft & Hard Skills
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Organized and structured worker, able to meet multiple tight deadlines.
- Willingness to be flexible in work location, prepared for travel.
- Effective communication skills across multi functions.
- Good written and oral command of the English Language.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and Adobe packages.
