Role Purpose:
The role ensures that wells are delivered and maintained safely, on time, cost‑effectively, and in full compliance with MP standards, local regulations, and industry best practices. It is accountable for the technical integrity of the well, the accuracy of reports, and the protection of company property.
Responsibilities include planning and executing all drilling program activities, managing costs, HSSE performance, and contracts, as well as providing direction to the Senior Drilling Supervisor on safety and operational challenges and its way forward.
The role is also responsible for issuing and approving MOCs and ensuring all operations follow approved drilling and completion programs, government regulations, and MP Drilling and Well Engineering Standards (DWES).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure daily instructions for drilling, completion, well testing, and logistics activities comply with company policies and procedures.
- Oversee offshore drilling and completion operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective execution.
- Monitor operations versus plans and budgets, minimizing non‑productive time and resolving operational challenges.
- Lead daily operational, logistics, and HSSE meetings with contractors and service providers.
- Develop and maintain contingency and emergency response plans for all operations.
- Manage logistics planning, including helicopter/boat schedules and personnel movement.
- Promote and enforce HSSE policies, ensuring compliance with regulations and driving safety culture.
- Follow up on risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and equipment inspections.
- Drive continuous improvement by recommending enhancements to procedures, processes, and operational effectiveness.
- Prepare and deliver accurate operational reports and promptly report incidents to management.
Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering or other relevant engineering degree or drilling background certificate.
- Valid IWCF Level 4 Combined Well Control Certification, BOSEIT and TSbB certifications.
Experience:
- Min of 15 years of offshore drilling experience as Senior Drilling Supervisor in the Oil & Gas industry and minimum of 10-years in a Drilling Superintendent position.
- Preferably have offshore drilling experiences in Indonesia. HPHT/MPD drilling experience would be an added advantage.
Skills:
- Experience of Indonesian culture, operations, permitting, import/export formalities.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
- General Contracts management acumen and strategy.
- Planning and Organizing skills.
- People Management and leadership skills.
- Upkeep on new drilling technology and equipment.
