Role Purpose:
Responsible for the well testing engineering design & support for assigned wells & projects these includes exploration and development wells. The said work is to be done to allow execution of well testing/well clean up to be conducted in a safe, environmentally acceptable & efficient manner, and shall be undertaken in accordance with Company and International engineering standards, processes & practices to ensure compliance with government regulations. The Well Testing Engineer shall also assist in the mentoring/development of junior staff.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop well testing programs that meet well objectives while complying with company policies, DWES, SKK Migas regulations, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with Exploration/Subsurface teams to integrate technical requirements into Well Testing Concepts, Basis of Design (BOD), and drilling programs.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective execution of well testing operations, supporting the Well Testing Supervisor and Drilling Superintendent as needed.
- Lead or participate in HAZOP/HAZID processes, ensure full close‑out of action items, and incorporate findings into the testing program.
- Review Standard Instructions for Drillers (SID), equipment designs, and vendor piping reports (e.g., PipeSim/Architect) to ensure safe and optimized operations.
- Design DST, subsea landing strings, and TCP systems, ensuring safety, suitability, and alignment with operational objectives.
- Support logistics planning including equipment loadout, supply base coordination, and operational readiness for well testing activities.
- Ensure full HSSE compliance, support HSSE documentation, and supervise safe implementation of well testing processes in line with regulations and standards.
- Assist in preparing well testing budgets, ensuring activities align with contract scope of work (SOW), AFE, and overall drilling campaign plans.
- Drive continuous improvement through procedure reviews, lessons learned integration, and optimization of well testing designs and operations.
Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
- Minimum an Engineering Degree e.g. Mechanical, Petroleum, Mining or equivalent with a good understanding of Drilling technology and upstream processes.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of deepwater Full Package Well Testing experience across multiple locations.
Skills:
- Is a safety leader.
- Well Testing Operation (Experienced Full Package Deepwater Supervisor).
- Having experience in both roles as Service provider and Operator is preferred.
- Highly Skilled on the well testing design, audits & reviews, good knowledge on the drillship workflow and piping design, project management, planning and resource allocation skills, negotiation & relationship building good communication and presentation skills, good interpersonal skills.
- IWCF well intervention Level 4./IADC WellSharp subsea certified.
