Role Purpose:
Provide instrumentation and control engineering support and technical assurance for the Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS) across Project facilities including FPSO topsides, marine systems, subsea production systems (SPS), GEP, and ORF. The role supports review, integration, operability, functional safety, and control system performance to ensure delivered solutions meet project requirements for safety, reliability, cybersecurity, and long-term operation.
The role supports technical governance and contractor oversight activities and does not hold EPC execution responsibility.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Support review and technical assurance of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) engineering deliverables throughout project execution.
- Review contractor design packages covering Process Control System (PCS/DCS), Safety Instrumented System (SIS/ESD), Fire & Gas (F&G), Power Management System (PMS), telecom, and marine automation interfaces.
- Support development and verification of control philosophy, performance requirements, and operational readiness considerations.
- Ensure engineering solutions support safe, reliable, and maintainable long-term operations.
- Review control system architecture, network topology, redundancy philosophy, maintainability, and lifecycle requirements.
- Support interface coordination across FPSO, marine systems, SPS, GEP, ORF, and associated facilities.
- Verify consistency of shutdown hierarchy, signal exchange, and integrated control logic across package boundaries.
- Support technical coordination with contractors, vendors, and project teams.
- Support functional safety activities in accordance with IEC 61511 / IEC 61508 requirements.
- Participate in SIL reviews, Safety Requirement Specification (SRS) reviews, shutdown philosophy assessment, and SIF lifecycle activities.
- Support evaluation of process safety controls and barrier effectiveness.
- Ensure alignment between automation systems and operational safety requirements.
- Support review of industrial automation and control system cybersecurity aligned with IEC 62443 requirements.
- Verify secure integration and segregation between OT and business networks.
- Support commissioning, startup readiness, alarm management, and operational handover activities.
- Support evaluation of contractor technical solutions and identify technical gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Provide engineering recommendations and technical input to support project decisions.
- Support resolution of instrumentation and control interface issues during engineering and execution phases.
Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical, Electronic, Automation Engineering, or other relevant disciplines.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control Engineering within oil & gas projects, preferably offshore developments.
Demonstrated experience in:
- Instrumentation and control system engineering and integration.
- ICSS, PCS/DCS, SIS/ESD, F&G, PMS, and automation systems.
- FPSO, offshore production facilities, subsea systems, or integrated facilities projects.
- Functional safety implementation and control system reviews.
- Contractor engineering and EPC/EPCIC project environments.
- Functional Safety certification (IEC 61511 / IEC 61508) is an advantage.
Skills:
1. Knowledge
- Good understanding of instrumentation and control engineering principles.
- Familiarity with ICSS architecture and industrial automation systems.
- Working knowledge of IEC 61511, IEC 61508, IEC 62443, ISA standards, and alarm management practices.
- Understanding of offshore process control and integrated shutdown systems.
