Role Purpose:
The Mechanical & Rotating Equipment Design Engineer is responsible for the interface with CTR in a lease and operate context for engineering, specification, design review, procurement support, vendor management, installation support, commissioning, and handover of mechanical and rotating equipment for FPSO projects from Detailed Engineering through offshore commissioning and final project delivery.
The role ensures all mechanical and rotating equipment complies with project specifications, international standards, classification requirements, safety regulations, and client expectations while supporting project schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and review detailed engineering deliverables for mechanical and rotating equipment systems.
- Review equipment layouts and 3D model integration.
- Ensure compliance with project design basis, client specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and model reviews.
- Gas compressors
- Export compressors
- Gas turbine packages
- Steam turbines
- Pumps
- Diesel generators
- Air compressors
- HVAC rotating equipment
- Cranes and lifting equipment
- Utility package equipment
- Prepare technical requisitions and equipment specifications.
- Support technical bid evaluations and vendor selection.
- Review vendor documentation, calculations, and drawings.
- Resolve technical queries during procurement activities.
- Ensure vendor deliverables meet project requirements.
- Act as Package Engineer for assigned equipment packages.
- Monitor package engineering progress and vendor performance.
- Coordinate interfaces between vendors and project disciplines.
- Ensure timely closure of technical issues.
- Verify compliance with:
- API
- ASME
- ISO
- IEC (where applicable)
- NORSOK
- Classification Society requirements
- Flag State requirements
- Client specifications
- Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and constructability reviews.
- Provide engineering support during module fabrication and integration.
- Review site technical queries (TQs).
- Support non-conformance report (NCR) resolution.
- Participate in yard inspections and construction reviews.
- Participate in:
- Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
- Mechanical completion activities
- Pre-commissioning
- Commissioning
- Performance testing
- Support offshore startup activities and troubleshooting.
- Support offshore hook-up and commissioning campaigns.
- Assist with final documentation and turnover dossiers.
- Ensure completion of punch-list items related to mechanical systems.
- Support project close-out and lessons learned activities.

Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience:
- 5–15 years of experience in offshore oil and gas projects.
- Strong experience in FPSO, Floating Production, Offshore Platforms, LNG, or Petrochemical projects.
- Proven experience in detailed engineering and project execution phases.
Skills:
- Knowledge
- Rotating equipment engineering.
- Equipment package engineering.
- Vendor management.
- Mechanical design review.
- Offshore construction support.
- FAT and commissioning activities.
- Knowledge of API 610, API 617, API 618, API 614 and related standards.
- Experience with engineering software and 3D model review tools.
