Role Purpose:
The Safety Occupational Health & Industrial Hygiene (SOHIH) Engineer plays a strategic and supervisory role in managing and advancing the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSSE) objectives. This position is responsible for overseeing occupational health and industrial hygiene programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving HSSE performance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
The SOHIH Engineer provides technical guidance and oversight to the Jr. HSE Engineer and HSSE staff, coordinates with internal and external stakeholders, and is accountable for the effective implementation of company HSSE policies, standards, and procedures across all operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of occupational health, safety, and industrial hygiene programs, including health risk registers and OHIH monitoring plans.
- Monitor, analyze, and report HSSE performance and key performance indicators (KPIs), including incidents, safety observations, and corrective action tracking.
- Develop, coordinate, and monitor the execution of HSSE plans and initiatives, ensuring timely follow‑up and closure of outstanding actions.
- Lead incident, accident, and safety observation reporting and investigation, ensuring accurate documentation and effective corrective actions.
- Manage HSSE contracts and contractor HSSE management systems, including audits, performance monitoring, and compliance with company standards.
- Coordinate and deliver HSSE training programs, including behavior‑based safety initiatives and HSSE awareness campaigns, ensuring compliance with training requirements.
- Support the deployment, administration, and continuous improvement of the HSE Management System (IMS) and HSSE data management processes.
- Oversee PPE needs assessment, availability, and compliance to ensure adequate protection for employees and contractors.
- Prepare and ensure the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of periodic HSSE reports (weekly, monthly, and annual) in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and supervision to HSSE personnel, including Junior HSE Engineers, and act as a role model in promoting a strong HSSE culture.
Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health
Experience:
- Minimum 7–10 years of professional experience in occupational health, safety, and industrial hygiene within industrial, energy, or oil & gas environments.
- Proven experience in HSSE program development, implementation, and performance monitoring across multiple business units or projects.
- Experience in contractor HSSE management and incident investigation.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in MS Office applications and HSSE reporting systems.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
