Job Title: Software / Optimization Engineer Intern (Duration April - June)

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Junior Software / Optimization Engineer Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for an undergraduate with a strong foundation in computer science and a profound passion for applying complex algorithms to solve tangible, real-world operational challenges. You will work closely with senior engineers to develop, implement, and maintain software solutions that integrate advanced optimization and algorithmic techniques to drive efficiency and performance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Software Development: Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance of core optimization-focused applications and services.

• Performance Tuning: Analyze the computational complexity and performance of implemented algorithms and underlying software, identifying bottlenecks and implementing clever improvements for speed and memory efficiency.

• Research & Learning: Stay current with the latest developments in optimization theory, computer science research, and relevant programming frameworks, proactively proposing and prototyping innovative algorithmic approaches to existing challenges.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.

• Demonstrable passion for and strong foundational knowledge of core computer science algorithms, complexity analysis, and data structures.

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C++, Go) suitable for building high-performance, algorithmic applications.

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).

• Exceptional problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive approach to tackling technical challenges.

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Who we are

We are a transportation tech company with extensive experience in both software and hardware. Currently, our flagship products are MuvMi and TukTuk Hop, which since the 2018 launch, have served over 26 million trips with 800+ Electric Vehicles. With positive feedback from our pilot, we are rapidly expanding our service in Bangkok and many cities in Thailand. We believe that we can change how people mobilize around cities in Southeast Asia. We are looking for leaders and champions to help us grow.

We are a small (90+ people) and agile team. We make things happen and are looking for similar entrepreneurial spirits to join our team.
