About the Role
A leading 5-star property seeks a passionate Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, maintaining culinary excellence, and upholding food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise daily kitchen operations and lead service in the Executive Chefs absence

Oversee food preparation, quality control, plating, and consistency

Support menu development and cost control

Manage stock, portioning, and supplier coordination

Enforce hygiene and HACCP standards as per South African food safety regulations

Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen staff
Requirements

Accredited Culinary Qualification (minimum NQF Level 5 or above)

3-5 years experience in a fine-dining or 5-star kitchen

Proven leadership and communication skills

Knowledge of HACCP and R638 food safety compliance

Must be eligible to work in South Africa (valid work permit if foreign national)
