Requirements
- 3–5 years' sales experience with proven sales management responsibility
- Demonstrated experience managing a sales team (essential)
- Experience selling into African markets
- Background in food, FMCG or ingredients industries is advantageous — other sectors considered
- Advanced Excel skills and a genuine love of working with data and analytics
- Fully computer literate with strong CRM and reporting discipline
- Strong influencer with excellent relationship-building and business acumen
- Willing and able to travel extensively within SA and across sub-Saharan Africa
- High EQ
- People Management experience
Role
- Lead, coach and develop a team of 8 sales representatives through regular field accompaniments and structured performance reviews
- Build and execute quarterly Territory Action Plans (TAPs) aligned to commercial strategy
- Drive the team to meet and exceed monthly sales budgets and volume targets
- Personally manage key strategic accounts across SA and Africa
- Analyse sales data daily and take swift, decisive action on performance gaps
- Ensure accurate CRM usage, reporting and administrative compliance across the team
- Travel monthly to coastal SA and into African markets as required
A well-established company is looking for a driven and commercially sharp Head of Sales M to lead an eight-person sales team across South Africa and sub-Saharan African markets. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves being in the field, is energised by data, and has a track record of building high-performing teams and winning customer relationships.
You will own the full sales cycle — from strategic territory planning and team coaching through to key account management and performance reporting. Travel is a core part of the role, with monthly visits to coastal regions of South Africa and regular trips into African markets including Zimbabwe, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Ghana, Zambia, Botswana and others.
