Education
- Postgraduate qualification is essential — an MBA, MBL, or relevant Master's degree from a recognised, accredited institution.
- A CA(SA), CFA, or equivalent professional designation is a strong advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a CEO, MD, COO, or equivalent C-suite role.
- Proven track record within a mid-to-large business (annual turnover exceeding R500 million preferred).
- Demonstrable multi-sector commercial acumen across industries such as financial services, manufacturing, retail, technology, logistics, or professional services.
- Experience presenting to, engaging with, and operating under the oversight of a formal Board of Directors; prior NED or board committee experience is advantageous.
- Sub-Saharan Africa market exposure and working knowledge of BBBEE legislation are strongly preferred.
- International market experience and exposure to listed or private equity-backed entities is beneficial.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic vision and leadership across all business divisions, ensuring alignment with the company's short-, medium-, and long-term objectives.
- Own full P&L responsibility — overseeing revenue growth, cost optimisation, capital allocation, and shareholder value creation.
- Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a diverse executive and senior management team, fostering a culture of performance, integrity, and accountability.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders including investors, board members, government bodies, customers, and industry partners.
- Drive digital transformation, innovation, and operational efficiency initiatives across the organisation.
- Oversee mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships relevant to growth ambitions.
- Ensure robust governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks are maintained across all business units.
- Represent the organisation externally as the primary brand ambassador at industry forums, investor engagements, and media interactions.
- Champion transformation, diversity, and sustainability as integral pillars of the company's culture and operations.
