Position: Assistant Accountant Intern - Internship

OUR CLIENT OVERVIEW:

Our client is a leading accounting firm based in Melbourne, VIC, Australia. Is it currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant Intern to join its team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or current student to gain hands-on experience and develop their skills in the accounting industry.

DESCRIPTION:

1. Bookkeeping for clients: You will be trained for maintaining accurate financial records for its  clients, including data entry, reconciliations, and journal entries.

2. Filing and organisation: You will be trained for both physical and digital filing of client documents and records, ensuring they are easily accessible and well-organised.

3. Tax return preparation: You will trained to assist our team in preparing individual, company, and trust income tax returns for its clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

4. Business activity statements: You will assist in the preparation of business activity statements for our clients, ensuring timely and accurate lodgement.

5. Bank statement reconciliation: You will be trained for preparing accounts from bank statements for simple businesses and investment clients, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.

6. Receptionist duties: You will be trained to answer phone calls and assist with client enquiries when our receptionist is on leave or on break.

7. Adhoc admin tasks: You will trained to assist its team with various administrative tasks as required, including data entry, filing, and other general office duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

- Currently studying or recent graduate in accounting, finance, or a related field

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Prior experience in bookkeeping or accounting is preferred but not required.
