About the job Dozer operator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Site Foreman, the Heavy Equipment Operators will be operating excavators, bulldozers, and/or graders on a daily basis. The Heavy Equipment Operators will be working on a rotational basis in a remote location where camp accommodations and meals will be provided. The project sites are located in Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario and require day and night shifts.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Able to operate excavators, bulldozers, and graders in a safe and efficient manner
- Conduct daily pre-trip safety inspections on equipment
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning of construction equipment as required
- Report all incidents and near misses to the direct supervisor Ensure safety is a top priority at all times Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- 2+ years experience operating heavy equipment is mandatory
- Civil earthworks or mining experience is required GPS and finishing experience will be considered an asset
- Ability to shovel equipment tracks and inspect equipment is required
- Ability to work day and night shifts is mandatory
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to self-start and take initiative on tasks
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
