About the job Head of People Operations

NAMED COLLECTIVE

NAMED COLLECTIVE is a London-born fashion brand at the intersection of design, culture and modern commerce - and we've built it differently from the start.

Since launch, NAMED has established itself as the 'rebel kid' of the industry - a brand with a genuine point of view, and a community to match. We create leisurewear in a way that nobody has before. We don't make basics, we make the statement pieces our customer builds their outfit around.

We're rooted in a deep obsession with our community and our customers - over 1.9 million people around the world who don't just follow us, they're part of what we build.

The Opportunity

We've grown at an average rate of 84% year-on-year over the last 5 years through our ecommerce stores, with particularly strong momentum across the UK and US. We're only scratching the surface of what's possible. The momentum is real.

This is a rare opportunity to join a brand that has already proven itself - where the foundation is strong, the ambition is bigger, and the right person will have a real impact on how we show up and build from here.

Now, we're looking for our first Head of People Operations - a newly developed role at a pivotal moment. You'll own how we bring people into the company, how they grow, and how we enable them to do the best work of their careers.

This is a function in its early stages of development at NAMED. This is about the build - you won't inherit a finished system - you'll shape it. Working closely with the Senior Leadership team, you'll design the infrastructure, processes and ways of working that allow us to scale from a team of 45 to our next stage of growth and beyond - without losing the quality, care and standards that define us.

We build everything around radical accountability and celebration. We believe in being in the room together. We don't over-engineer things - if it's not adding value, it doesn't stay. The right person understands this instinctively - and knows how to build systems that are thoughtful, effective and almost invisible to the people using them.

THE ROLE

  • Build and take ownership of the People Operations function in line with the company vision - from contracts and payroll through to talent management, onboarding, L&D, systems, benefits and compliance, and everything in between

  • Build the People infrastructure that underpins how the company runs - and ultimately, how far it can scale - simple, scalable and built to support both today's team and tomorrow's

  • Create an environment where things just work - where expectations are clear, processes are seamless, and nothing critical relies on chasing

  • Own the end-to-end recruitment and talent lifecycle - helping attract, hire, develop and retain exceptional people, while building hiring processes and talent practices that raise the bar as the company grows

  • Design an onboarding experience that reflects the standard we expect and the values we hold - setting every new joiner up to feel confident, connected and productive from day one

  • Establish the foundations of a high-performing, deeply cared-for team - clear feedback, real development, strong manager support and the rhythms that drive consistency and accountability

  • Lead, manage and develop the People team - supporting growth to ensure consistently high standards of delivery and a function that scales with the business

  • Work closely with Senior Leadership and managers on hiring, compensation and team design - bringing clarity and good judgement to the decisions that shape the company

  • Oversee workplace operations and team experience - ensuring the environment supports how people do their best work, while maintaining strong standards across health & safety, insurance and operational compliance

  • Stay close to the detail but think ahead - using data, instinct and judgement to identify gaps early and continuously improve how we hire, support and grow our people

  • Be a true operator within the business - stepping in where needed, solving problems quickly and helping the company move forward without friction

A GOOD FIT LOOKS LIKE

  • You've spent 6 - 10 years building within People Ops, and have seen a company through meaningful growth

  • You understand how quickly things break (and need rebuilding) as a team scales - and you're comfortable operating in that reality

  • You've personally built the core foundations - hiring, onboarding, performance, or broader people infrastructure - not just maintained them

  • You're an operator first - comfortable owning the detail, from contracts and systems to comms, not just shaping the strategy

  • You're fluent in the tools and systems that make teams run well, and know how to implement them in a way that actually sticks

  • You've had real ownership across the full people landscape - from the day-to-day to the more complex areas like ER and compensation

  • You're used to working closely with founders or senior leaders, and can navigate ambiguity, challenge thinking and keep things moving

  • You care deeply about building a great team - and understand that this comes from both high standards and how people are supported day-to-day

YOU'RE ON OUR PAGE IF YOU

  • Are a builder, not a maintainer - you're energised by starting from scratch and figuring out what good looks like as you go

  • Take real ownership - if something isn't working, you step in and fix it without waiting to be asked

  • Have good judgement - you know when structure and process adds value and when it just gets in the way

  • Are thoughtful with data - you focus on what matters, use it to improve, and avoid unnecessary noise

  • Are warm but direct - you're comfortable having honest, and sometimes hard conversations, and you handle them with care and clarity

  • Are curious about how tools (including AI) can make our people processes work faster, better and more effectively

  • Care deeply about the team - and believe that building an exceptional company starts with the people inside it
